Mistry Design Summer Picnic 2019!

VETERAN HOUSING PROJECT
RIBBON-CUTTING CEREMONY

We were proud to celebrate alongside state officials and community leaders, including Lieutenant Governor Tahesha Way and Wayne Mayor Chris Vergano, at the ribbon-cutting ceremony for the Meadow Road Veteran Housing Project in Wayne, NJ last Thursday.
As the architects who worked on this project, we are grateful to have played a role in creating a place that supports and uplifts the veteran community. This project represents more than housing; it’s a commitment to honoring those who have served.
2025 SIAEA CRUISE ON THE HUDSON
The annual SIAEA Cruise on the Hudson was a wonderful evening of waterfront views, great company, and meaningful connections with industry peers. SIAEA Secretary, Yogesh Mistry and members attended the event to celebrate this year’s honorees, including Eric Alemany - NYPA, Maria Osorio - NYCSCA, Carrie Torres - DASNY, Gordon Tung - NYSCA and Lourdes Zapata - MTA. The event was not only a chance to honor excellence but also to reflect on the continued growth and collaboration within our community.
2025 INDIA DAY PARADE
The spirit of celebration continued last Sunday at the 2025 India Day Parade in New York City. SIAEA Secretary, Yogesh Mistry and our members proudly represented our heritage on a vibrant float that made its way along Madison Avenue. The parade was filled with color, energy, and music, bringing together hundreds of people to celebrate Indian culture and unity. For us, it was a moment of pride to stand alongside the community, honoring tradition while looking toward the future.
REGULATORY SPOTLIGHT: UNDERSTANDING THE NJDEP's
PROPOSED REAL RULES
At the core of this proposed rulemaking are five guiding principles, all of which will influence how future development is designed, approved, and built across New Jersey. Among the most impactful for our industry:
Inundation Risk Zones (IRZ): New floodplain designations account for sea level rise through the year 2100. Development in these zones — including redevelopment — will face stricter elevation standards and require inundation risk assessments.
Protection of Critical Infrastructure: Facilities like hospitals, emergency services, and utilities must now meet enhanced design and construction standards tailored to withstand intensified flooding and storms.
Stronger Water and Land Protections: Revisions to the Coastal Zone Management, Flood Hazard, and Wetlands rules aim to mitigate habitat destruction and pollution caused by extreme weather events.
Climate-Adjusted Standards: Stormwater and flood hazard rules will adopt a new “Climate Adjusted Flood Elevation” (CAFE), adding five feet to FEMA’s current 100-year flood level in tidal areas.
Support for Nature-Based and Renewable Solutions: The rules encourage shoreline restoration projects and more responsible siting of renewable energy infrastructure.
These changes are broad in scope, touching over a dozen regulatory codes — from freshwater wetlands and stormwater management to safe drinking water, waste disposal, and land preservation programs As architects, our role is not only to design for beauty and function but also to ensure that projects align with a changing regulatory landscape. These proposed updates are an important step toward more resilient development in New Jersey, and we’re already preparing to guide our clients through what’s ahead.

Mistry Design is honored to be recognized as one of the top 'Project Architects' on the 2025 NJBIZ Leaders in Real Estate, Construction & Design list for the citivillage at Plainfield Station!

INSPIRING THE NEXT GENERATION OF DESIGNERS
This month, we opened our doors to a group of local high school students for an immersive 'Day at the Firm' experience. It’s part of our ongoing commitment to education and community engagement.
During their visit, students explored our studio, learn how architects shape the world around us, and engaged in fun, hands-on activities that bring design thinking to life. We're excited to share our passion for design and hopefully inspire a few future architects!
The National Association of Minority Contractors (NAMC) New York Tri-State Chapter Awards Ceremony and Gala
Celebrating Excellence!

Last week, I had the privilege of attending the National Association of Minority Contractors (NAMC) Award Ceremony & Gala in New York City. The event was a celebration of excellence, diversity, and innovation in the construction industry, honoring minority-owned businesses who make a significant impact.
The evening was filled with inspiring speeches, well-deserved recognitions, and incredible networking opportunities. It was a reminder of the importance of supporting and uplifting minority contractors who bring talent, creativity, and resilience to the industry.
As we continue to push for greater inclusivity in construction, events like these reinforce the power of collaboration and community. Congratulations to all the honorees and organizers for an unforgettable night!

Mistry Design is proud to have contributed to the recent grand opening of The Resource Center at the Lord’s Pantry in Hackettstown. As part of our commitment to supporting the community, we provided architectural design services pro bono to help bring this vision to life.
The center will serve as a valuable resource for local families, and it was a pleasure to meet community members and collaborate with other companies that made this initiative possible.
When possible, Mistry Design is honored to offer our expertise to assist in the renovation and construction of facilities that benefit local nonprofits and community services.
What a night to remember! It was great to meet new members that have joined our community of engineers and architects and to say hello to some familiar faces!
